Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 October 2026
Mama Cleans Levin is a cleaning business based in Levin, New Zealand. In this policy "we", "us" and "our" mean Mama Cleans Levin. It explains what personal information we collect through this website, how we use it, where it is stored, and your rights under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
The short version: we only collect what we need to reply to you, quote and carry out your clean and consider job applications. We don't sell personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.
What we collect and why
Quote requests
When you ask for a quote, we collect your name, email address and phone number, the service you're after, details about the property (its type and the number of bedrooms and bathrooms), how often you'd like it cleaned, any extras, the town and address, your preferred date and time, how you heard about us, and any notes you add. Your contact details, the service, the property type, how often and the town are required; the rest is up to you.
Contact messages
When you send us a message, we collect your name, email address and message, plus your phone number and the service it's about if you give them.
Job applications
When you apply to join our team, we collect your name, email address, phone number and what you tell us about yourself, plus your town, the days you can work and whether you have your own transport if you give them.
Reviews
Our Leave a Review links take you to our Google Business Profile. A review you leave there is published by Google and handled under Google's privacy policy.
What happens to what you send
Each quote request, message and job application is saved in our website's database and emailed to our team so we can reply, and you get an automatic email confirming we received it.
The forms are rate limited, which means the server briefly blocks an internet (IP) address that sends too many requests in a short time. We don't store your IP address with your details.
Server logs
Like most websites, the server keeps standard access logs: IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of each request. We use these only for security and fixing problems, and they are kept for a limited time.
Cookies and similar technology
Visitors to this website don't get any cookies from us, and we don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
- Staff sign-in: when our team signs in to manage the website, a session cookie keeps them signed in. Scripts on the page can't read it, it is only sent over a secure connection, and it expires after 4 hours.
- Spam protection: our forms use Google reCAPTCHA v3 to tell people from automated spam. When you use them, Google receives information about your visit (such as your IP address, browser and how you moved around the page) and may set its own cookies. It is used only to check the form was sent by a person. Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
Content from other services
To show this website, your browser loads a few files from other providers, so they receive your IP address and browser details, as they would for any website:
- Google Fonts, for the lettering.
- Cloudflare (cdnjs), for the icons.
- Google, for the photos of the people whose Google reviews we show.
Our links to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Google take you to those services, where their own privacy policies apply.
How we use your information
- To reply to your enquiries and messages.
- To prepare quotes, and to arrange and carry out your cleans.
- To consider job applications and contact applicants.
- To keep the website secure, including blocking spam and abuse.
We don't sell or rent personal information, and we only share it with the service providers below, or where the law requires us to.
Where your information is stored and who else handles it
This website and its database run on an Amazon Web Services (AWS) server in the United States, which is outside New Zealand. These providers handle some of your information for us:
- Stravia Marketing, the New Zealand business that built and looks after this website. It hosts the website for us and can access its data only to run and support it.
- Amazon Web Services (hosting, and email delivery through Amazon SQS and Amazon SES). When you use a form, the emails it sends, including names, contact details and messages, pass through these services. AWS is a US company.
- Google (reCAPTCHA, US-based), to keep spam out of the forms, as described above.
Sending information overseas: under information privacy principle 12 of the Privacy Act 2020, we may only send personal information overseas if it will be protected to a standard comparable to New Zealand law. AWS and Google are each bound by contract and by their own published privacy commitments to keep the information they handle for us secure and to use it only to provide their service.
How we keep it secure
The website is served over HTTPS. Staff passwords are stored as one-way hashes, each member of our team only sees the parts of the admin area their role allows, sign-in attempts and forms are rate limited, and the server sends standard browser security headers. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information, and we will tell you if a privacy breach is likely to cause you serious harm, as the Privacy Act requires.
How long we keep it
- Quote requests, contact messages and job applications: deleted from the website automatically after 90 days.
- Emails: our replies, and the emails the website sends us, stay in our team's inboxes for as long as we need them to look after you.
- Server logs: kept for a limited time, then overwritten.
- Staff sign-in sessions: 4 hours.
Your rights under the Privacy Act 2020
You have the right to:
- ask whether we hold any personal information about you;
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
- ask us to delete your information, which we will do unless we need to keep it for a legal reason such as tax record-keeping.
To use any of these rights, email us at mamacleanslevin@hotmail.com. We'll respond within 20 working days, and there's no charge.
Complaints
If you think we've handled your information in a way that breaches the Privacy Act 2020, please contact us first so we can put it right. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner or call them on 0800 803 909.
Changes to this policy
